Love Potion #9

Happy Wednesday all!! I got the Love Bird done on Monday night. He came out cute except that he looks more like a balding man rather then a bird. My daughter laughed and thought the same thing and voted for the Love Bug to be the item to make for Valentines gifts instead of the bird. Poor little birdy! Here he is for you to see:

Front and side views! Look at that face!

I got the shell done on my Big Poke as well, now starting on the belly. Need to do 3 more squares to send out as well, I'm thinking heart themed!
I got this one in the mail today from one of the ladies!

That's my update for today!

Country Club

Here it is Monday again! I did manage to get a couple of items completed this weekend and I also got a little bit organized! Yea for me!
I finished my Chicago Bears hat for myself:
I graphed the logo and then wrote up the directions for the hat. It's a tiny bit too big (lengthwise) but I like it anyway! I will be wearing it on Sunday!
I also finished the love bug from this collection. He's so cute, everyone wants him! I started the Love Bird from the same collection.
The legs and antennae were tricky, but I figured them out! I also used yarn for the eyes instead of buttons.
Here are the current projects I'm working on aside from the 20 squares blankets for my Daughter and Son.
Heart pillow from crochetme

This is the Love Bird
This is my first wire project! I got the pattern from the 2007 Crochet Pattern a Day calendar. Kind of hard and interesting at the same time! This is what my intended Christmas gifts are going to be this year to everyone! hmmm?
And in this bag we have the Big Poke I've been working ever so slowly on! I know he'll get done, but I put him aside over the weekend to finish up other stuff (and start other stuff too!)
WOW I have too many things as usual! I completed all of the pink squares for my Daughters 20 square blanket, now I need to add the second color, but finding enough Simply Soft in Gray is proving to be difficult!
Well that's my update from the weekend, let's see how the week pans out!

Can't Buy You Money

Well Friday is here at last!! I started the Big Poke from Roxycraft last night and finished the other 2 squares for for my Friendship Granny Exchange over at Crochet Partners. I have too many projects going right now and really need to finish up the smaller ones and get organized!
Here's the squares:
The colors are the same as the first one I did but this time I use my 35 granny square booklet, these are square #9. I will send them on Monday!

That's it for today!

Mr. Right Now

Well I'm back in the office today! My new job is killing me right now, just getting used to standing all day and moving items, and lifting and anything that is not sitting behind a desk! I am working on squares while on breaks because they are small and portable. So far the evening hours have not seen much action because I'm just too tired after getting dinner ready and chatting with my Daughter! I did work on the Star Afghan on Sunday and finished the navy yarn out and will start on another skein of Lime. So far I've done 15 rounds~
I love the shape, it lays flat when I smooth it all out but not so much when I just spread it out. I really don't know if that's what it's supposed to do or not but as long as it will lay flat when smoothed I guess it's all good!
I started my Bears hat as well and should have that finished tonight. I will be making one for my Nephew as well.
I bought this pattern today at Roxycraft. I think I will make him for Valentines gifts for my Boys.
I also need to finish up 2 exchange squares to get them in the mail by Saturday!
That's my thrilling update for the week!

Told You So

Well here it is Sunday! Waiting for the Bears game to start so I figured I'd pop in here and update! I got the red & black scarf done that I working on. the Rumor yarn is very nice to work with! I think I will get enough to make a larger project with it, don't know what I will make with it but something! Here's the scarf:

It is soft!
I also have been working on the star afghan. I finished up the Lime and am now working with Blue. I don't know how much I like the blue as it's Navy and I don't think it goes all that well! BUT I will keep on with it and then add more Lime before adding more Circus. We'll see I guess!
that's all I've really got, I have been doing squares while on my breaks at my new job and started a heart pillow. I will be working on the star blanket during the game today and if the Bears win then I will be whipping up a hat for the Superbowl!!
That's it for me!

Fidelity

I did not get anything done last night! I had to go to orientation at 3:30 and that lasted until 7. I got home and had to deal with problems until 8:30 and by then I didn't feel like breaking anything out to work on! I am currently working on finishing the skein of Lime yarn for the Star afghan I'm doing for no particular reason! I will be going to a different Wal-Mart tonight to see if they have a better color selection of Simply Soft and Bernat Softee Chunky. I like the Bernat yarn it IS Soft & Chunky! the star afghan will make a nice throw for watching TV. My Daughter has decided she likes it as well as my Nephew does so we will have to see who wins out.
I start my first shift tomorrow morning and being as I live in California the law states that any hours worked over 5 you must take a 45 minute lunch break! So I guess that means I have 40 minutes of free crocheting time, because there is no way in the world it takes me 45 minutes to eat lunch, I have 4 kids I've learned to eat fast!
Anyway that's todays brilliant update!

Hold On Loosely

I started a scarf with the Rumor yarn that I bought on Monday. I am using Angel Hair in black and Moda Dea Wild in Red as well! Here's that picture:

All 3 of these yarns are luscious! I wanted a Valentines scarf...does this seem too dark for that?
My Daughter requested a Valentine scarf as well last night, only she wants hers to be pink or red with big hearts on each end! Always a challenge with that girl! I did do the body of the love bug I am making for Valentines as well! That's it for me!

Duality

Ok I didn't get anything completed yesterday except for a square of my Daughters 20 Square blanket!
10 squares will be baby blue & gray and 10 squares will be baby pink & gray.

I did go to Joann's yesterday because I had a 50% off coupon, they of course did not have what I was looking for, but since the coupon expired yesterday I HAD to use it! I bought a skein in Patons new Rumor yarn in Spanish Heather and am making a scarf with it right now! It is super soft!

I popped over to Walmart to see if they had the yarns I was looking for, but not much luck there either! I did get a skein of Bernat Softee Chunky in Lime and used that to added a border to the star blanket that I started over the weekend.
My nephew loves it and I think he is laying claim to it!
That's about it for today. I'm going to work on a heart pillow tonight and get some yarns together for a pretty Valentines scarf!

Grand Illusion

Happy Friday!!! It has been a longish week, but I have picture updates for today!

I started the 2nd batman hat last night!
Can't see it all that well, I will take a better picture when it's done!

I started one of my exchange squares today while manning the phones at job #1.
The square is adapted from a booklet by Leisure Arts called Lemon Drops & Daisies. I followed the pattern for the first 4 rounds and now I am improvising the rest to make it a square that is square and 7 inches. We'll see how it works out!

I also finished the pig purse except for the strap. The picture is terrible but you get the idea! I'll take another with the strap done as well!

I will get these items finished up tonight and then I am going to make a pokeball for my Nephew. I have to go get more Simply Soft yarns this weekend for Andrew's scarf, Katlyn's blanket & Steven's blanket. That about sums up my entire weekend except for the Bears game on Sunday!!!
Have a great weekend!

Wrap It Up!

Ok I have completed the Rasta hat for my son! It was fairly straight forward as far as hats go! I am still working on the pig tote though. I will also start the 2nd Batman hat tonight so I can get it off of my TO FINISH list! I have 2 blankets of squares to complete and I want to make this pillow or a couple of them, I think I will look for some variegated yarn in browns to see if I can work up one maybe a bit leopard printish? I want to make my Nephew a pokeball, still need to do 3 exchange squares, I have a new idea for a felted purse & I want to do a Star afghan! I really need to stay off of the boards at Crochetville! There are just too many CAL's going on and I want to join in!!

Here's the hat! I hope he likes it!

That's it for today, I did get my new job and will go in on Wednesday for orientation! This will mean much less time for crocheting as I will be working 2 jobs for awhile! Oh well a girls got to do what a girls got to do!

Coming Undone

Well I got the other side to the pig purse done BUT the problem I have is that I didn't have enough of the same pink as the first one, SO I used a different pink and it came out smaller then the first panel! The first pink I used is from a discontinued skein of Pop N Yarn that I've had in my stash from a baby blanket I made years ago!! Ok so I can either stretch to fit the back to the front OR I had the idea to just do the back panel solid black and call it a day...I am toying with the idea of lining it as well, but I haven't done that before so I'm not sure how to! Oh well I'll figure something out!
I did manage to write up the pattern for my sons rasta hat, so maybe I'll give that a go tonight! I have no pictures so far today...maybe later!

Adios!

Follow Me

It's Tuesday afternoon and I've had 3 interviews (all with the same company) and had to pee in a cup! I should hear by Thursday when to come in for orientation and training!

I worked on my newest graph pattern last night. It's going to be a purse for Andrew's girlfriend! She loves pigs so this is what I did:
I drew a pig, and then I crocheted a pig!

Well he's almost done and then I will do the other side. Hopefully she will think he's a cutie! If not I guess it's back to the drawing board!

I am going to work up a design for my son rasta hat tonight so I can get that done too! I did get another green square done this morning while waiting for my interview.

That's all I've got!

Chain Reaction

Happy Monday to the world! I have to go out job hunting...not my best idea of fun! Oh well, I do think a steady paycheck is fun though. I didn't get too much crocheting done this weekend either. I felt the need to clean and organize things instead. I did get pictures framed that i have been meaning to and got my craft table (non crochet things) cleaned up and put into a plastic storage bin for the time being. I hate having clutter, so I packed it up and it will go into the storage space and I will have more room for yarn!

Anyway, I did get the scarf done that I was working on and got some inside squares done on both my 16 yo sons blanket and my daughters blanket. I only took a picture of the scarf for now! This is done with Chenille Thick N Quick in Chocolate, Lion Suede in Teal, Sensations Whisper in Brown/Turquoise and Bernat Baby Lash in Gentle Green.

I also worked up a list of things I need to make for everyone, both long term (Christmas) and right now stuff! I will also stop buying yarn except for the blanket yarn I need for above mentioned 2 kid blankets, until I am done with those blankets. I think I have enough in my stash to sustain me for quite awhile and get squares done for my granny exchange even!

I think that's about it for my Monday update!

I Love This Bar...

A little bit of Sammy as I start typing!

I am still working on my latest scarf and managed to get a square done for the new granny exchange that I joined last week over at Crochet Partners. I needed to get one to the coordinator so she can send me out my first set of names! Here the picture:

Just a pretty plain, basic granny. I will be on the hunt for some different patterns with more flare! I have some more of this yarn left so I though I would use it as a flower on a cream colored background for a square or 2.
It is Friday so I will be working on hats, and finishing up the scarf that I am working on and a tote for Andrew's girlfriend and I am going to frog the blanket that I started in November with the yarns that I got from Knitpicks as I really don't care for the pain in the neck pattern that it is, with the yarns. I am just going to make it straight rows of hdc or something equally simple with all of the different textures of yarns. I think that way I will have much more motivation to finish it, because right now as much as I love the yarns, I can't bring myself to work on it!
Well that about sums up how my weekend is going to go along with football games I'm all set!

Have a great weekend!

Wicked Game

I think that I will use song titles for my posts from now on, that way I don't have to try to be clever when thinking of a post title. Ok onward.

I did go to Joann's yesterday, didn't get much though. My sister did go a bit crazy, but I only got some yarn for a hat for my son.

The holiday skeins were only $1.29 and the colors are exactly what I needed!

I completed the scarf that I have been working on for my exMIL, here's that:

I used Homespun in Edwardian, Patons Divine in Amethyst, Sensations Fever in Purple & Bernat Bling Bling in Cabaret Crimson.

Now I really shouldn't have, but I started another scarf for myself...

I just couldn't resist the yarns calling me from the basket! I will work on the next Batman beanie...I will!

I think that's all I have for today. I have joined the friendship granny exchange over at Crochet Partners, so I will need to start whipping up some squares along with everything else!!

Mid week

Didn't complete anything last night, drats! Almost done with a scarf and then will be working on the second Batman beanie to get the bugs out of the pattern. I want to find some valentine items to make up as well. I know that I have a couple of patterns that I bought last year from roxycraft (the Valentine collection) so someone will be getting those guys! Maybe some heart potholders as well! I think I will head out to Joann's and see what they have on sale!
No pictures for today unless I find some new yarn!

First Post of 2007

Happy New Year to all! I went through my project book and gathered all information from 2006 and got my first item done last night for 2007!

This is my first designed beanie! I wrote up on the pattern on New Years Eve and worked it up last night.

I put the Batman logo on there and my Nephew loves it. Since this is the first time using the pattern, I'm not sure how well I am in love with the look. I had to add extra rows on the end of it to make it longer, so I will make up another one a bit different and see how that works out so I can get the bugs out of the pattern!

Now on to the completed project list of 2006:
I got 4 afghans done, 4!!! That is my biggest crochet accomplishment ever! Ok enough of that! I was just so excited to realize that I had done 4 full afghans!
5 Amigurumis
2 small purses (felted also)
1 stole
10 regular beanies
2 beanies with earflaps
1 shawl
4 totes - felted as well
2 large purses (felted)
10 potholders - 6 of them my own design
1 pair of fingerless gloves
11 scarves
2 felted bowls
1 of my own graph design totes
I very excited to see everything I did get done. I didn't even realize how many things I did actually complete! Here's hoping the list will be just as long in 2007!
